Fundamentals: sun and moon salutations workshop

  • triyoga Ealing Unit 30, Dickens Yard, Longfield Avenue Lodon, W5 2UQ UK (map)

Surya namaskara and chandra namaskara are the sun and - lesser known - moon salutations. They also make up a portion of “a vinyasa”. We hear them mentioned regularly by teachers but what are they in detail?

In this workshop, we will break down the poses involved in the sun and moon salutations and look at them individually. After studying the poses and their alignment points in detail, we will put them together into a flow. This new understanding of alignment and body awareness will keep your joints healthy in the long run, as you practise the poses over and over again.

You’ll come away with a deeper understanding of the fundamental building blocks of the yoga practice, looking at essential poses such as downward dog, cobra, updog and chaturanga.

You’ll feel more confident in moving through a chain of complex poses, developing awareness, alignment and mindfulness of movement.

This workshop is open to everyone, especially beginners or to those who want to really understand what it means when a teacher says to “go through your vinyasa”!
